3 Ways to Boost Your Confidence As A New Mommy

As I have said again and again in my previous blog posts, I struggled with low self-confidence for most part of my life. This lack of faith in myself got even worse when I became a mother. And don’t get me wrong. There are joys and tons of bliss that I experienced just for being a mommy to my children. But the truth is that my babies didn’t come with a manual when I gave birth to them.

The fears and self-doubt were paralyzing. Thanks to my ever-supportive hubby because I was able to go through it all! And yet, the truth remains. It was a journey filled with a mixture of intense emotions. Yes, there were joys and tears of joys. There were also moments of confusion and “how the heck do I raise these kids?” sentiments.

If I could turn back the hands of time, I would definitely change some things to make the journey less stressful and more joyful.

So here are 3 things that I would tell the young mommy Theresa:

First, be in the moment.

My thoughts were split between the present and the future. I know that it’s “normal” to think about the future, about their college funds, about their first date, about what kind of profession they are going to choose, etc. However, it’s more important to be 100% present in the now. Enjoy the moments when they are still cute little babies.

Second, take care of your mental health.

Mental health is just as important as our physical health. Stop worrying about what people thought about you. Flash news! They don’t think about you. They have their own problems.

Choose better thoughts when You feel down. Your babies need a mentally balanced mother.

Third, don’t do it all.

Build a support system. Family, friends, church, and a coach to help you cope with the difficult moments. And not just the hard times, but as well as the good times. It feels so much better when you have people who can cheer for you and celebrate your small wins with you.

A few more words...

Motherhood is a wonderful journey that teaches us unconditional love. It can make us lose self-confidence when we feel alone. Cultivating the right mindset will help a lot as well as having people around you who would love to support your journey.

What else would you add to this list?
