Pamper Yourself with a DIY Spa Day

I don’t know about you but I have always wanted to enjoy aa day at the spa. However, being a working, busy mom of two and on a budget, a day at the spa just hasn’t worked out. Once I started learning about essential oils and making my own products, I realized I can enjoy some pampering at home. So, for all of you who like to enjoy the luxury of a spa day at an affordable price and at your convenience, I have some recipes to share with you.

Let’s start at your feet. We all deal with achy feet at some point. This is something you can do frequently to aid in that ache.                 To a basin or foot bath, add cool water. Add one Tablespoon of carrier such as Jojoba Oil (great moisturizer) and 1 drop of Peppermint Essential Oil. Soak for 10-15 minutes. The peppermint is stimulating and tingling.

Citrus Foot Soak: 2oz Baking Soda, 2oz Epsom Salts, 1oz Powdered milk, 10 drops Sweet Orange essential oil and 10 drops Lemon or Lime essential oil. Store in airtight container. Add 1-2 TBSP to a basin of warm water. Soak your feet for 10-15 minutes.

Moisturizing Facial Mist: In a spray bottle, add 2oz distilled water and 1 tsp vitamin e (or 1 capsule). Add 3 drops Rose Absolute, 1 drop Lemon, 1 drop Orange. Shake well before use. Close eyes when you spray on your face.

Milk Bath Soak: To 1/2 cup of milk, add 1 drop of each Sandalwood, Sweet Orange and Geranium. Add the mixture to your bath and enjoy the soak.

Bath Salt Mix: To 4oz of sea salt, add 1 oz of baking soda. Add 1 drop Lavender, 1 drop Sweet Orange, 1 drop Cypress, 2 drops Juniper Berry. Mix all together and add to your bath.

Massage Oil: To 1 ounce of carrier, add 10-12 drops of your favorite scented essential oil(s). Try a mixture of Ylang Ylang (use only 1-2 drops this), Bergamot and Cedarwood.

Sugar Scrub: Add 2oz sugar (either white or brown) to 1oz carrier oil, add 10-15 drops of essential oil. Try lemon for an invigorating scrub or lavender for a calming scrub.

Face Mask: 1/2c Benonite Clay, 1/4c carrier such as melted coconut or fractionated coconut or olive oil, 2 TBSP Activated Charcoal Powder. Water. Add in either Frankincense or Lavender essential oil 10-15 drops. Add dry ingredients together in a glass bowl. mix in the carrier oil and the drops of essential oil. Stir in water slowly to make a smooth paste that will easily apply to face. Let dry then wash off with warm water.

I sure hope that these recipes will help you set up your own spa day. Make it special by lighting some candles, putting on some music you love or read a book, use this day to really pamper yourself and make it a day of relaxation and recovery for yourself.
